Pine trees shoot through the rocks above The Yellowstone River, Wyoming
As they say, timing is everything. We were scrambling around the overlooks above The YellowstoneRiver in Yellowstone National Park, and the late afternoon sun hit these young pine trees, fighting their way out of the rocks high above the river canyon. The brightness of their green needles, augmented by the sun bouncing off of some rocks out of frame to the left that illuminated the ones below them, contrasted with the muted blues, greens and magentas of the rocks in the river canyon below. Lucky us!
